What started as a small cottage was re-designed into a large modern home with two additional single-storey interconnecting volumes. These provided additional bedroom space, with the existing dwelling providing the open-plan living space to the front of the house, facing south-west, the main garden area and the Slaney River in the distance.
During construction it was decided to demolish the existing house and rebuild it to the same dimensions, thus ensuring a completely modern, thermally efficient and air-tight envelope.
The end result has provided the client and her extended family with a bright and spacious home to enjoy; an escape from the hustle of busy city life, and a cosy base from which to enjoy the sunny southeast.
